Breast Cancer Awareness Month is annually renowned during October and might be sensitive to a lot of families. Breast Cancer is one of the most common cancers among South African women and the incidence is increasing.
A lot of communication campaigns have been introduced over the years to raise awareness about breast cancer. Supporters of these campaigns hope to influence with a greater knowledge that will result in early detection of breast cancer and hence a higher survival rate.
According to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), one out of nine women can get cancer and breast cancer tops the list. It’s revealed that white and Indian women tend to be diagnosed the most, with black and coloured women following second.
